More bad weather on the way

8 July 2004

BRUSSELS – The wind and rain that has lashed Belgium and much of the rest of Europe this week shows no signs of letting up in the immediate future, it was reported on Thursday.

According to Belgian weather forecasters, the unseasonably cold and wet weather is set to last well into the weekend and things are unlikely to improve considerably before the end of next week.

On Wednesday some areas of Brussels recorded rainfall levels of 20 litres a square metre.

The fire services were also busy across the country on Wednesday, dealing with flooded cellars, fallen trees and roofs damaged by the wind.

Motoring organisations are warning drivers to take particular care while the bad weather continues.
