LIEGE – In the province of Liege a 29-year-old man from Oupeye threw himself from a motorway bridge in Remouchamps on Tuesday after using an axe to kill his girlfriend in the French town of Maubeuge.
The man had already died from the fall by the time emergency service arrived in Remouchamps.
The man had sent a text message to a number of family members yesterday evening. He told them that he planned to commit suicide and that he had killed his girlfriend in Maubeuge.
French police have confirmed that the partner of the man was murdered. The public prosecution office in Liege has been informed.
The couple had two children; both are unharmed.
