BELGIUM – A 31-year-old Belgian man who invited a 13-year-old girl – an Internet friend – to his hotel room faces charges on sexual misconduct.
Vincent Raphael Duval and the girl met via the Internet. They regularly chatted and sent each other hundreds of emails in which they did not lie about their identity.
On Friday, the Belgian travelled to Montreal to meet the girl and he took her to his hotel.
The girl’s parents alerted the police when they discovered her chat files on her computer.
The police searched all hotels in the city until they found the man.
Duval appeared in court Monday to faces charges of sexual interference, sexual touching, kidnapping and luring with a computer.
A lawyer entered a not guilty plea on the Duval’s behalf. Duval will be detained until his next court appearance Wednesday.
He simply nodded when the judge ordered him to not contact the alleged victim.
