Man accuses wife of racial abuse

27 October 2005

BRUSSELS — A Flemish woman could soon face Liége Court accused of racism against her husband, a Wallonian.

The man, of Grâce-Hollogne, lodged a complaint with police against his wife on Tuesday.

The woman was later arrested on allegations she scratched and racially abused her husband.

The 47-year-old woman allegedly called her one-year older husband a “dirty Walloonian, slave and worthless creature”.

This is not the first time police have had to intervene in the household, newspaper ‘De Standaard’ reported.

However, the woman is facing charges from the Liége public prosecutor for alleged racism, Flemish public broadcaster VRT said.
