BRUSSELS – A man accused of partaking in the 11 March 2004 Madrid bomb train attack has been extradited to Spain, the Belga news agency reported Friday.
Currently in Spanish police custody, the 28-year-old Yousself Belhadj had been arrested in Brussels on 1 February.
Madrid authorities accuse the Moroccan national of being the Al Quaeda spokesman who claimed responsibility for the morning rush-hour attack in which 191 people were killed.
Belhadj was first arrested in March 2004 because he was believed to be a member of the Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group, but was released amid insufficient evidence.
