BRUSSELS – The Flemish Government is to lower subsidies for the Flemish Literature Fund by EUR 670,000 next year.
The Fund, which supports writers, translators and literary organisations, has seen its donations dwindle over the past five years.
The organisation has now reached the end of its financial reserves, making Thursday’s decision all the more worrying.
It was not clear what this means for the authors and organisations which depend on the fund for financial backing.
The government is to decide on the total of its streamlined financing of the fund next week.
