BRUSSELS – Guy Van Holsbeeck handed over a knife to police on Tuesday that may have been the weapon used to kill his son.

Joe Van Holsbeeck was stabbed to death at Brussels Central Station on 12 April 2006 when he refused to hand over his MP3 player to two other youths. Le Soir reported this today.

The murder weapon has never been officially found. Nevertheless a man from Sint-Gillis found a suspicious weapon seven days after the incident. He alerted the detectives at the time but was never contacted.

On 5 June 2007 he approached Joe’s parents with the possible evidence. The weapon will be examined.
