Investigation into internet paedophilia

5 March 2007

BRUSSELS – The federal police have filed a report after the broadcast of Panorama (Canvas) on Sunday evening. Het Laatste Nieuws reports this today.

In a report on sexual predators who approach children online, a journalist for the programme pretended to be a 13-year-old girl named Lotte. Within no time he was being approached by men with dubious intentions.

Panorama hired an actress to pose as “Lotte” and meet one of the men. He did everything he could to get into a clothes shop fitting room with her. Another man offered “Lotte” 300 euro to act in a pornographic film. A third man insisted that she make naked pictures of herself on the webcam and threatened to send a computer virus if she refused.

The public prosecution department may now decide to investigate the men.
