High average temperature in June

BRUSSELS – The month of June was characterised by an unusually high average minimum temperature, remarkably little sunshine, and an abnormally high average temperature, according to the monthly overview from meteorological institute KMI in Ukkel.

The average minimum temperature came to 13.9 degrees Celsius this last June, compared to a normal average of 11.3. This beat a 1966 record of 13.4 degrees. The sun shone for only 130 hours and 15 minutes in June, much less than the normal average of 202 hours.

The average temperature came to 17.5 degrees, compared to the normal average for June of 15.5 degrees. The average maximum temperature was also higher than usual: 21.9 degrees compared to 20.2.
