Hell’s Angels convicted
22 March 2007
BRUSSELS – The court in Antwerp has sentenced three members of the Hell’s Angels motorcycle club to five years in prison and a EUR 500 fine for the attempted manslaughter of two members of rival motorcycle gang the Celtic Friends.
Seven Hell’s Angels were given two years in prison and a EUR 500 fine for premeditated and deliberate battery and assault. Two others were acquitted.
The defendants carried out a violent raid on the clubhouse of the Celtic Friends on the Korte Ypermanstraat in Antwerp on 1 February 2004. Their attack was aimed at Dirk Geerts, who had stopped being a member of the Hell’s Angels six months earlier and joined the Celtic Friends. Two members of the Celtic friends were shot in the fight that ensued.
