Heavy Snowfall in Flanders

8 February 2007

BRUSSELS — The snowfall across the country has led to traffic jams and minor accidents, but no major problems are expected. Weatherman Frank Deboosere forecasts 3 to 6 cm of snow, De Standaard writes.

Traffic is moving very slowly today, police in Eastern Flanders reported. Despite a number of accidents, no people were reported injured in connection with traffic in Flanders by late morning on Thursday there were.

Nor  does Zaventem Airport expect any serious delays due to the snowfall. Most flights will have a delay of up to 15 minutes because the outdoor equipment needs to be de-iced.

Later today the snow will turn into rain, starting from the French border and reaching into Limburg. Friday will remain dry in most parts of Flanders.
