34-year-old Thylmann lives in Belgium and owns the porn sites "YouPorn", "Pornhub", "Brazzers" and "My Dirty Hobby". They are operated under the umbrella of the Manwin holding in Luxembourg. Manwin is is a big player in the sector, with an estimated tunover of several hundred million euros each year. The sites are very popular. "Pornhub" and "YouPorn" had 5.5 billion pageviews in the month of July.
Thylmann hails from the German city of Aachen, but lives in Belgium. He denies the charges relating to tax fraud. "Manwin is fiscally optimised, but to interpret this as tax avoidance, is simply wrong", a statement says.
It is not clear when exactly he was arrested, but Thylmann is now behind bars in a Belgian prison cell, waiting to be extradited to Germany.
