17 July 2007

BRUSSELS – The local police in Brussels have arrested three French youths who damaged police cars by jumping atop them and dancing on them. One of them spent the night in a cell, the others were released after questioning.

The incident took place in front of the police department on the Brussels Kolenmarkt. The officer standing watch in front of the building saw the youth approach from the direction of the Grote Markt. The boys suddenly jumped atop the cars and started dancing.

When the three refused to stop, the officer called in colleagues who managed to wrestle the boys from the cars and bring them in.

One turned out to be drunk and was held overnight. The others said they were on their way to their hotel when it occurred to them to jump on the cars.

The police cars suffered damage to the bonnet and roof.
