BRUSSELS – Belgium’s far-right Vlaams Blok has just got a new recruit in the shape of a former police inspector, Belgian radio station RTL reported on its website on Tuesday.

Bart Debie has announced he will quit the police in order to become a member of parliament for the anti-foreigner, anti-Wallonia party.

Debie had been suspended from duty since last July pending investigations into forging documents, abuse of authority and breaking Belgium’s anti-racism laws.
