Met Office issues “yellow alert” for Belgium

Published on 12/05/2017

Heavy showers (though local) will sweep across the country coming from France, and may go with thunder and lightning. Temperatures suddenly surged to 20 Celsius (68 Fahrenheit) and more today, after a long fresh spell.

While we should take into account potential heavy rainfall and possible thunderstorms, the VRT’s weather presenter Sabine Hagedoren says the yellow alert is nothing exceptional. “A green or yellow alert is no reason for concern”, she says.

An orange alert means that the weather may cause serious damage, but this is not today’s forecast.
