Flemish teens crave discipline

15 October 2004

BRUSSELS – Flemish teenagers believe their parents are too soft on them, it emerged on Friday.

One adolescent in seven believes he or she has too much freedom at home and one young person in five feels their parents are not strict enough.

Despite being generally happy with their parents, a large majority of teenagers think they are allowed too much freedom.

The results have been drawn from a survey of 873 adolescents, aged between 12 and 18, which was carried out last autumn by the Youth Information and Prevention Service.
