BRUSSELS – The Flemish liberals Open VLD want the next federal government to make the creation of 200,000 new jobs a priority once again.
That is one of the ten non-negotiable points which the party is taking into the elections. Party chairman Bart Somers says this is a realistic goal.
The Flemish liberals presented the draft of their electoral platform on Wednesday. The 88-page text, containing 184 resolutions, is not a “catalogue of ideas, but a vision on where we want to go as a society,” Somers said.
Open VLD also wants simpler and lower taxes, federal and regional elections to coincide every five years, and direct election of the prime minister.
