Property price increases slowing down

The pace of the increase was slower than it was in 2013. Last year, an average property in Flanders cost EUR 213,588. The report also shows big regional differences in property prices with a house in Hainaut province costing just half the price of a house in Flemish and Walloon Brabant.

The figures show a slight increase in the price of houses, villas, flats and building plots.

However, the rise in the price of houses, flats and building plots is far less pronounced than it was during 2013. Meanwhile, the price of a villa increased by about as much in 2014 as it did during 2014.

• The price of houses increased by 1.1 percent (Compared with 2.1 percent in 2013)

• The price of flats increased by an average of 0.8 percent last year (compared with a 2.8 percent increase in 2013).

• The price of villas went up by 0.6 percent in 2014 (compared with 0.5 percent in 2013).

• The price of building plots increased by 4.8 percent last year (compared with 6.4 percent in 2014).

Last year, the average price of a house in Flanders was 213,558.

In 2014, a villa cost on average EUR 355,394, while the average price of a flat was EUR 214,465.
