French stop Belgian car with hundreds of thousands of euros in cash

It was just outside Perpignan near the Franco-Spanish border that French customs stopped the vehicle that had entered the country from France. The French broadcaster France Bleu reports that driver and passenger were both detained for questioning in connection with the provenance of the cash that had been hidden in a spare wheel.

Last month French border police stopped a car that was travelling from Spain with a million euros on board in twenty and fifty euro banknotes.
