First snow falls

10 November 2004

BRUSSELS – The first snowflakes of Belgium’s winter have fallen in the Ardennes, it was reported on Wednesday.

It started snowing on Tuesday night and was dry enough to settle, causing freezing conditions and icy roads.

In Verviers, the roads and motorways were still blocked at 5 am and a lorry got stuck at the Francorchamps crossroads.

However, the snow isn’t deep enough yet for sledging or skiing.
