Family asks media to be discreet

BRUSSELS – A silent march will be held tonight in memory of murdered 18-year-old girl Annick Van Uytsel.

Annick’s family is asking the media to refrain from photographing or interviewing family members during the silent march tonight. The city of Diest has made this announcement. The family wants to take part in the march tonight undisturbed,

Roland Pacolet, local police chief, will speak to the press briefly near the Gildenzaal in Schaffen at 6.30 pm. This is the location where Annick attended a party on the night she disappeared.

The silent march will leave this point at about 7 pm and arrive between 8.30 and 9 pm at the Grote Markt in Diest. A short speech will follow and a moment of silence will be observed.
