Eurostar, Thalys trains to Belgium, disrupted by cable theft

A theft of signal cables brought high speed train services between France, Britain and Belgium to a halt for more than an hour Saturday, French rail company SNCF said.

The theft of the cables, about half way between Paris and Lille, brought Eurostar trains linking London and Paris, and Thalys trains, which go to Belgium, to a complete standstill for one hour and caused knock-on delays of up to two hours, said SNCF.

French high-speed TGV trains travelling to the north of France were also affected.
