BRUSSELS – The Belgian town of Esneux in Liège province will unveil the country’s largest artificial beach later this month, it was reported on Thursday.
According to the town’s official website, the 40,000-square-metre site will host beach volleyball games and attract 16,000 visitors from June 24-27.
Some 360 volunteers, two doctors, seven first aid workers, 15 security guards will be on the site to dispense 60,000 drinks and make sure that things don’t get out of hand.
Last August Brussels put up an artificial beach along the Willebroeck Canal, though the only sports on that strip of sand involved sunbathing and drinking exotic cocktails.
