BRUSSELS – French criminal Eric Ferdinand, who escaped Lantin prison via helicopter on 15 April, has been arrested in Italy. French radio station Europe 1 reported the news this morning. The story has been confirmed by the public prosecution department in Liege.

“I can only confirm that he was arrested in Italy,” prosecutor Danièle Reynders, told French press agency AFP. The prosecutor could not give any further details about the arrest.

Europe 1 reports that Eric Ferdinand was arrested along with an accomplice on the island of Murano, near Venice, on Wednesday evening.

The police in the French city of Nimes arrested his other accomplice, Cyrille Schramm, at a traffic check in early May.
