BRUSSELS – Paper airline tickets may soon become a thing of the past, executives at Belgian carrier SN Brussels are predicting.

The airline’s executive president told Belgian press agency Belga that in the future he would like to see paper tickets cost EUR 15 more than their electronic counterparts in order to encourage the latter.

A spokesperson for the airline further explained that electronic tickets would not be purchased only online, but also by telephone or a travel agent.

After making a reservation, a customer would only have to present identification at the airport before boarding a flight.

The move to electronic tickets could make flying cheaper for travellers, since the processing of paper tickets takes more time and money.
