EasyJet Comes to Zaventem

6 February 2007

BRUSSELS — British budget airline EasyJet will also operate from Zaventem.

According to EasyJet’s internal newsletter, a service between Brussels and Geneva will be launched from Zaventem starting from 29 June this year.

In September the flight frequency will be increased to two flights per day in each direction, Le Soir reports.

Neither Brussels Airport nor EasyJet wanted to comment. It is well known, however, that the Brussels airport had been negotiating with EasyJet for a long time.

Meanwhile, for Ryanair based at Charleroi, the arrival of EasyJet in Zaventem will mean serious competition. The same goes for Brussels Airlines, also flying to Geneva.

It is safe to assume that EasyJet will also diversify its destination options from Brussels at a later stage, the newspaper concludes.
