Dublin to request financial bailout from EU, IMF to stabilise banks

After long denying a bailout would be necessary, Ireland's cabinet on Sunday decided to request a loan from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund to help stabilise Irish banks and help tackle the country's sprawling budget deficit.
