Delhaize withdraws breakfast cereal

The food alert is being issued in consultation with Belgium’s food safety agency.

The own brand breakfast cereals contain too much deoxynivalenol, a mycotoxin, a toxin.

Consumption of excessive amounts of the cereal can lead to digestive problems and vomiting.

The packs display the codes L14-05261 and L14-05262.

The supermarket has asked customers not to eat these cornflakes. Last week supermarket rival Aldi was obliged to withdraw breakfast cereals for a similar reason.
