BRUSSELS – The Belgian government is considering compulsory insurance for children’s scooters and electric wheelchairs.
Under the new proposals, owners of these vehicles would be subject to a fine in the event of an accident.
The loss of a licence to drive the vehicle, or a full confiscation of the scooter or wheelchair, would also be possible consequences.
Currently these vehicles do not require separate insurance and are usually covered by general family insurance.
