BRUSSELS – Most Catholic hospitals in Belgium practise euthanasia, despite announcing in 2002 that they would boycott a new law that allows the controversial medical practice.
According to a survey by the Catholic hospitals themselves, the majority of establishments do allow doctors to help terminally ill patients die with dignity.
The survey’s findings have already been called into question, however, as one in five Catholic hospitals did not take part in the study.
