Business confidence dips in October

25 October 2007

BRUSSELS (AFP) – Belgian business confidence dipped again in October for the fourth month in a row, the central bank said Wednesday.

It said its monthly indicator of overall business sentiment had fallen to minus 0.1 in October from plus 1.5 in September.

The confidence of business chiefs “weakened in the manufacturing industry and in construction,” it said.

The industry subcomponent of the indicator worsened to minus 1.8 from minus 1.4, while construction eased to 1.0 from 3.4 but commerce rose to 6.7 from zero, it said.
