BRUSSELS – Brussels is faring better than Barcelona when it comes to attracting new tourists, it emerged on Monday.
The Belgian capital has seen a 50 percent rise in tourism over the last six years, according to tourist body “Brussels International.”
The figures contrast with a 15 to 30 percent fall in hotel business recorded this summer.
This is attributed to the fact that leisure tourism is on the rise, whereas business tourism, which accounts for much of the hotel custom, has fallen.
