Van Wymersch heads the police service in the zone City of Brussels/Elsene.
He is no stranger to controversy. Previously he was suspected of trying to influence his own appointment.
The present charges relate to his time before he became police chief.
He has been charged with forgery and is also suspected of changing the negative evaluation of a colleague into a positive one.
The head of the General Police Inspection Luc Closset has been charged with a similar offence. The charges relate to the appointment of Christa Debeck.
When Ms Debeck was working for the office of the then Home Affairs Minister Patrick Dewael (Flemish liberal) she failed a selection test for a job with the General Police Inspection.
It has been alleged that Van Wymersch and Closset later changed the negative evaluation "unsuitable" to "suitable".
