Brussels airport expected to close because of ash

BRUSSELS – Already a large number of flights to and from British and Scandinavian airports have had to be cancelled due to their closure, Brussels airport said on its website.

"There is a strong chance that Brussels Airport will also be forced to stop all operations during the day," the statement said.

Nearly every airport in Norway, Denmark and across northern Sweden was closed following the volcanic eruption in Iceland. British airspace was shut down completely due to the spreading cloud.
