Boys threw stones at trains

15 May 2007

BRUSSELS – The police have apprehended three boys who were responsible for throwing stones at four trains last week.

The three boys are between the ages of just 12 and 13.

The parents of one of the boys went to the police after they questioned their son. The boy told the officers the names of his accomplices.

Since the NMBS has filed for damages, the parents will most likely have to pay a great deal. 45 trains were affected by delays totalling about eight hours and train drivers were traumatised by the incident.

Initially it was thought that the trains had been fired upon. The investigation later showed that the trains had been hit with stones, not bullets.
