BMI hopes to fill Ryanair’s shoes

BRUSSELS – UK airline BMI on Wednesday said it has no plans to reduce its flights between Brussels and London and added that it hopes to profit from cut-price airline Ryanair’s recent decision to end services between Belgium and the UK capital.

BMI spokeswoman Christine Van den Winkel said she hoped Ryanair’s announcement that it will next month scrap services between Charleroi airport in the south of Belgium and Stansted outside of London would mean more passengers for her company.

“BMI will try to profit from the end of that link and attract its customers to our services,” she said.

BMI flies between Zaventem airport just outside of Brussels and London Heathrow. 

“We offer very attractive prices on our services, thanks to our billing system based on one-way flights,” she said.

“This approach not only allows travellers the possibility to only reserve a one-way ticket but it also allows them to choose the best price for each trip,” she added.
