BRUSSELS – Researchers based at the university of Liege have discovered the most massive star ever seen, it was reported on Monday.

The researches say the newly discovered star, which has the endearing name of WR20a, is over 160 times more massive than the sun.

WR20a is a binary star, meaning it is actually two stars linked together.

One of its components is 83 times more massive than the sun and the other is 82 times.

The Liege astronomers’ new discovery is the latest in a series of groundbreaking finds.

Last year the same team discovered the hottest star known in the universe.
