BRUSSELS – Around half of all Belgians would be happy to pay more for Belgian products, it emerged on Friday.
According to a study by the Centre for Agricultural Economy at Leuven University, consumers prefer ‘home-made’ products because they consider them to be of better quality.
This is particularly true of fruit and vegetables, the survey found.
Fifty two percent of Belgians are ready to pay ten cents more for Belgian milk.
Sixty percent believe that consumers should buy as many Belgian products as possible.
One third think it is important that supermarkets offer Belgian products even if they are a bit more expensive than normal.
