BRUSSELS – Belgians are the most critical of all European Union nationalities when it comes to eurocent coins, according to a new European Commission survey.
Three quarters of Belgians think one and two cent coins should be taken out of circulation due to their impracticality.
Fewer than half of EU citizens are happy with the new euro currency’s denominations, a better result nonetheless than at the same time last year.
In general, Belgians are happy with the introduction of the currency itself.
In other parts of Europe, many believe the introduction of the single currency caused the price of consumer goods and services to increase.
