BRUSSELS – Two young Belgians have been arrested following the murder of a 19-year-old man in Spain.
The body of a Frenchman of Italian origin was found on 8 April in the area of Lloret de Mar, in Cataluyna, which is full of discos and bars. He had several knife wounds.
Investigations found 12 youths aged 17 to 20 had headed to the Spanish resort for a holiday on 2 April.
The men arrested, North Africans who come from Liege province, were captured in Spain at the weekend.
It is believed that one has confessed to punching the victim and the other has admitted stabbing the man. They are still being held for questioning.
Ten other men who were travelling with the youths were also questioned, but released without charge and are expected to return to Belgium on Monday.
