Belgian women like pornography

2 July 2008

BELGIUM – Pornography is apparently not just a male thing any more.

Two out of three Flemish and Walloon women look at porn or erotic films every once in a while or often, according to a website survey by the Flemish magazine Flair.

About 2,300 readers of the popular magazine Flair participated in the website survey.

The survey reveals that women are interested in pornography. Ninety percent of those polled say that they have seen pornography at one time or another. Sixty-five percent say they look at porn/erotic films often.

"One in three women does not tell anyone that she watches porn," says Flair editor Sara Bosmans, adding: "Pornography is apparently still taboo."

Women mostly look at pornography on the internet. Porn films on television (and/or on the porn channel) are also popular. Women do not tend to rent or buy porn films very often.

According to the survey, women like to watch porn, but they are picky: they have a long list of no no’s.

"Women do not like unrealistic stories or women who are fake or vulgar," says Bosmans.
