23 February 2005

BRUSSELS – The discovery of the body of a Belgian holiday maker has pushed the Belgian tsunami death toll up to nine.

The body of Lutgarde Haemhouts, 45 and from Montaigu, was identified at Khao Lak holiday resort in Thailand.

Two Belgians remain missing after the Boxing day tragedy in South East Asia.

Haemhouts was swept away by the torrent of water while her husband survived by clinging onto a tree for hours.

The victim had two children from a previous marriage.
