13 February 2003

BRUSSELS – A Brussels tram driver on Friday morning threatened a passenger with a loaded gun, the city’s public transport service has confirmed.

The incident happened at the Montgomery tram station in Brussels’ comfortable Woluwe district.

The passenger began shouting at the driver when he got stuck in the door while trying to board the tram.

The driver responded by pulling out a loaded gun and threatening the passenger with it, seriously worrying both the stuck man and the tram’s other occupants.

Police subsequently arrested the driver and he is currently being held for questioning.
