BRUSSELS – Tour operators Jetair and Neckermann have a pretty good idea of where most Belgians will be spending their holidays this year.

Spain, Turkey and Egypt are the top destinations for air travel. France and Austria remain the Belgian’s favourite destination for a driving holiday.

Family-friendly arrangements and destinations are faring particularly well this summer. The number of bookings for city trips continues to rise, with Barcelona, Paris and London topping the list. Both tour operators reported this on Friday.

Neckermann, part of the Thomas Cook group, has seen a marked increase in the number of driving holidays this summer, Austria, Italy and France being the top destinations. The Belgians remain loyal to tradition and tend to book a second or even third holiday closer to home.
