Belgian house prices still rising

9 June 2004

BRUSSELS – House prices in Belgium went up by 8 percent last year, it was reported on Wednesday.

The Belga news agency said that flats and apartments seemed to have been particularly affected by the price rises.

Belga said young people seem very keen to buy apartments at the moment as do couples over 50 whose houses have become too big after children have left home.

But price hikes have been less noticeable among more expensive houses.

Properties costing more than EUR 200,000 have not seen their value go up as quickly as cheaper apartments and houses, said Belga.
