Belgian hayfever alert

4 June 2004

BRUSSELS – Belgium’s public health authorities on Friday warned that hayfever sufferers are in for a particularly miserable weekend.

The Scientific Public Health Institute said that the weather forecast for the coming days meant that pollen levels in the air were likely to be particularly high, causing problems for anyone suffering from hayfever.

In any year, late spring and early summer are the most critical periods for people with allergies to pollen the institute added.
