Belgian general to head Eurocorps

BRUSSELS – Belgian General Charles-Henri Delcour is to take over as commander of the European army unit, Eurocorps, it was confirmed on Wednesday.

Delcour, 57, is currently a top ranking officer in the Belgian army who began his military career as tank officer.

The general is set to take over at Eurocorps in September.

He is expected to serve the standard two years as head of the unit.

The Eurocorps defence force is made up of soldiers from France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and Spain.

At full strength it can call on 60,000 troops.
