Arsonists set off a fire in the building hosting European Union summits Thursday but caused little damage, the Brussels prosecutor’s office said.
Two cans of oil and a burnt rag were found in technical premises on the 7th floor of the building where ministers and heads of state and government meet regularly for EU talks, a spokesman for the prosescutor’s office told Belga news agency.
The fire blackened a wall and a few electric cables, he said.
Smoke detectors on the 8th floor set off the fire alert.
An EU spokesman said he had "no extra details pending a report from the security services.
