Apple season has begun

16 August 2007

BRUSSELS – The apple picking season started on Thursday. The same amount of apples is expected to be harvested, but the fruit is expected to be bigger.

The apples are larger than previous years mainly because of the weather this year, which was very favourable for fruit trees.

The month of April was very sunny, May was rainy and the summer has been temperate.

This is also why the picking season started two weeks earlier than usual.

Pear picking starts next week; these too are noticeably plumper than last year.
