All change for Brussels trams

28 April 2004

BRUSSELS – Brussels is set to lose its distinctive yellow trams over the coming years as the city replaces them with a brand new fleet of silver and bronze-coloured models, it was announced on Wednesday.

The first new trams will come into service on the capital’s network of dedicated tram tracks, for example along Avenue Louise.

According to Brussels public transport operator STIB/MIVB, the idea behind this initial move is to give the city’s fastest ‘super trams’ their own identity.

But over time STIB/MIVB says it plans to replace the entire fleet.
